Inspecting The Hair From All Sides

I cannot muster up any more words on hair and makeup. To get caught up, read about what my hair inspiration was HERE.

Close up of the back & front, soon after it was done.

These pictures were taken by Neill at about 6 o'clock and the only think I touched up was my lip gloss. Yay for staying power.

Overall, I really liked it. It felt sooo secure, which was one one my major concerns.  My only thought is that maybe I'd want it more to the side. When pictures were taken straight on, you could barely see the side poof. I don't want pictures of just my big round head. Something like this (pictures from here)

See how sidey that looks?

Anyways. I don't want to talk any more about this. I just can't stand to spend another minute thinking about what my hair is going to look like. Frankly, I look like crapola most everyday so anything will be an improvement!

Beauty Brigade

A while ago, I mentioned that I got my hair and makeup done by the wonderfully talented and super sweet Heather Massa for my bridal shower. Today, we did the the wedding trial run. Well, let me tell you - Heather brought her A game! I cannot say enough good things about her. First, let me show you my hairspiration.

I must be having a thing for blondes right now :) I sent her these pictures and told her I wanted my hair to: (1) have volume up top, (2) be pinned off my neck, (3) have some texture/curl in it, (4) be off to the side in some sort of bun thing, and (5) be secure as hell. The last thing I need is a big gust of windy city wind blowing out the whole thing!

Here are  blackberry pictures of what I ended up with! I apologize for the crummy pictures. It is very hard to take a good self-portrait with our big heavy camera!

I luuurve it! Looking back at the inspiration pictures above, I think it resembles the picture of Amanda Seyfried, but to the left. While I love the look of the messy side bun a la mischa barton , I also know myself well enough to know that (a) I'd worry and obsess about whether or not my hair was falling out and (b) if it is hot I don't want a single strand of hair to touch my neck. So, I think I sacrificed some loosey goosey hippie chic style for a more coiffed look. But, the piece of mind is worth it. Plus, I really can't overstate just how freaking windy it gets by the lake here in Chicago. Like blow your skirt up, umbrella inside out, leaves whipping around in circles windy. I think this style can stand up to the winds though. Heather used about a million bobby pins and TON of hairspray. About 10 hours later, and it has barely moved.

Mission accomplished!

When Neill got home from work I had him take some better pictures of me, but I'm still waiting for him to send them my way. I'll post them as soon as I get them :)

Bridal Shower Beauty

One of the fun things about my bridal shower this past Sunday is I got to get beautified before hand! Heather Massa came to my house at 9 am on the dot on Sunday morning and worked her magic! Because I've never even met Heather before this, I really wanted a chance to do a pre-trial before the actual bridal trial to make sure we meshed well. This was the perfect excuse! I am so glad I decided to go this route. Of course no one needs to get their hair and makeup professionally done for their bridal shower, but if I had to worry about whether or not I was going to like my hair and makeup on my wedding day this whole month I probably would have gone crazy. (and yes - i would have worried about it all month) So it was totally worth it to me! On the plus side, my FMIL got to meet her too and decided she wants to get her hair and makeup done for the wedding now! That's just how awesome Heather is :)

Because I love all of you and I have very little shame, I will post a before and after picture for y'all to marvel at.

please remind me

Please remind me that i go through EVERY SINGLE DAY of my life without professionally done hair or makeup (or any makeup at all). every day i walk around just looking all normal and like me. Please remind me that I don't have to look like a movie star on my wedding day. i'm not walking the red carpet. i'm just getting married. yes, of course, i want to look extra beautiful that day - but finding a someone to do hair and makeup is not *that* important.

sigh.

can you tell i'm trying to convince myself here?

I'm getting married in 70 days and I have no one to do my hair or makeup. I thought at least I had hair, but I don't.

I will find someone. And it will be fine.

Even if it is not fine, it will be fine.
