Alisha thank you so much for sharing this. I truly believe that happiness starts from within. For me personally I rely too much on the relationships around me. I hope to grow into the same philosophies that Laura has. It reminds me of when you where a kid and the bullies picked on you - they were only doing it to prove something within themselves. I do appreciate the deadline she set, because you should only give people space for so long. I would love to see more articles like this when you run into them. I hope classes are going well.
i am very conflicted about it. i think she must be very strong... and i don't think I'm as strong. I think I would tend towards the more freaking out, getting angry, saying mean things, and then begging for him to stay camp. But, i do think the space thing is an important point. people have to have space to have doubts and reevaluate. to freak out and then calm down. i don't think he handled what he needed very responsibly though. She obviously took the high ground in this situation. I wonder if she finds herself resentful ever? Someone once told me that sometimes it is only after boundaries have been tested that you can grow stronger. I think I agree with that.

That made me cry. I'm not sure if I agree with that tactic; could it work for everyone? But I do know that it's interesting.
Man. The New York Times is so intense.
